week fourteen.

This week was pretty dry if you ask me. The only thing of substance I did was take my CLEP exam. This was, I don't have to take 18 credits my last semester of Senior year. I took a 6 credit CLEP, so that took care of my 2 general electives for next semester. I have 12 credits left and I'm looking to fill 3 of them with an internship [shameless plug! if you know where I can get one for advertising/PR/graphic design/magazine layout design/or anything creative let me know!]. Once I started looking forward to next semester, I took a step back and realized that senioritis has been kicking my butt really bad this semester. All of my in-class classes are in order, however, my online class work is atrocious! I spent my Wednesday morning this week completing all of my online class work that I've missed since the storm [yes, since before Halloween. Sad, I know]. But at least it's all done now. CAN DECEMBER 15th GET HERE ANY QUICKER?!?!?!

week thirteen.

The week of Thanksgiving. The best time to be with family. Cooking, talking, watching football games, and for my family, dance battles on the Wii or Xbox. I drove for 4 hours, racing to get back to my family for these very reasons. But I ended up racing to work -__- [a responsible adult decision of mine, going to work instead of going to lay in leisure]. Now, on T-Gives Day, I was with my family, loving every minute of it. However, you know that magical day that comes right after T-Gives, the one with all the shopping and discounts? Black Friday of course! Here's the thing, Black Friday is the devil in the eyes of a retail worker. Mobs of unpleasant people ruining the store that you worked so hard to stock and decorate neatly. Then they have the nerve to take their unpleasantries out on you at the register because they made up some crazy deal in their head and you won't give it to them, you know because it doesn't exist. No one told you to get up 3 hours after you just stuffed your face with T-Gives food and get trampled at the mall. The worst part about Black Friday is that shoppers do it all over again the next day. On that Saturday, I pretty much saw most of the same Black Friday customers coming to return half of their purchases [buyer's remorse]. There were a few shoppers that were coming in because they wanted to escape the craziness of Black Friday but still want the same Black Friday ONLY deals -__- [people aren't smart]. But here's a little taste of what Black Friday looks like if you've never been. Shopper Go Crazy on Black Friday Enjoy!

week twelve.

You have got to understand, being from Maryland where we experience all of the seasons, I'm still tired of experiencing New York's seasons times 1000! That Nor'Easter that we got was no joke & I'm no fan of snow. Anyway, this week, I was inducted into the College of Professional Studies Honor Society. I must admit, I was pretty proud of myself. At least somebody recognizes the work that I do at this school.

There was a nice quaint ceremony on the Queens Campus for all of the new inductees. All in all, I'd have to say that that is what made my twelfth week of senior year memorable.

Election 2012: Incumbent Takes the Title...AGAIN!

In the race to win the 270 electoral votes to be granted the title of President of the United States of America, the incumbent, President Barack H. Obama (D), has beaten out the challenger W. Mitt Romney (R). The President ended the race with 303 electoral votes, while Romney's total only reached 206. In the early hours of the race, Romney had been leading the president; that is, until the polls on the West Coast were closed. The President managed to secure the 55 electoral votes that came from California. This gave him a leg up. Once Obama gained Ohio's 18 electoral votes, he had the race won. He did manage to win Virginia's 13 electoral votes under a slim margin. Some would say the key to President Obama's victory was winning all but one of the swing states. Congrats Mr. President, here's to another four years!

week ten.

uvhvbewlcuh4iefn34cniqnfoqi4j3t. Talk about making my senior year memorable. This was the week of Hurricane Sandy [which became SuperStorm Sandy, but was still referred to as Hurricane Sandy.. talk about confusing]. I came home for the weekend for my cousin's wedding & then I couldn't get back. If you want to experience superficial suffering of the first world, go somewhere for a week with only 2 PAIRS OF SHOES and a basket full of laundry that has not one single outfit that matches either pair. THAT was my tragedy for the week. I felt so helpless; but after I got over the initial shock, I got creative. I made outfits and managed to look decent as I went to shop for more clothes. Nobody could tell my hardships, lol. On Sunday, 10/29, I stood in a cold, rainy line with my mother for 3 and a half hours so that she could early vote. You see, I had already mailed in my absentee ballot, but being the good daughter that I am [insert sarcastic face here, ha] I stayed to keep her company. I also had the time, this week, to visit my old high school and brag about my college accomplishments to my old teachers. That felt good. My favorite activity for the week, I wrote in to the Ellen DeGeneres show to ask her to give me a new car. I know it's a long shot, but nothing beats a failure but a try.
But on a serious note, my heart went out to all those seriously affected by the storm. My mother, sister, and myself did give money to the organizations that were aiding in storm relief. The way we see it, we are a part of the community that is the United States; it is our duty to help those who need it.

week nine.

Sorry it's so late. I didn't mean to keep you waiting on my overly interesting life. Well, the wedding that I've been waiting a little over a year for finally came! My cousin Whitney married her High School sweetheart, Lewis (or Uncle Lew, as our family affectionately calls him). [Insert happy couple here]

It was a beautiful affair, equipped with 5 Bridesmaids, 6 Groomsmen, 3 flower girls, 2 Junior Bridesmaids, and of course, the ring bearer.

All the planning that we did and the stressing over menial details was well worth it and is actually over. a short ceremony, about 45 mins, pictures in front of the horse drawn buggy, and then off to the Mardi Gras themed reception we went. While waiting to be seated, me & my protege [some would just call her my younger cousin] took some bridesmaid boredom pictures.

When we finally got to go into the reception, we did so in the style of a Second Line Wedding Parade [shown here just for example] complete with a New Orleans jazz band. When the bouquet got tossed, I got suckered into catching it by my 7 year old cousin, but I must say I did have a great night.

Now, of course the wedding didn't go off without a couple of minor problems [my not liking the stupid coordinator being one of them] but hey, what's living life without a few obstacles.

week eight.

This week was another week of extraordinary nothingness. All I really did was do school work and sit around watching movies for inspiration since I have to write a movie for class. My movie is a romantic comedy. In my haze of nothingness, I did stumble upon the cutest little movie on youtube that I think I may somehow work into my screenplay. Here goes for your pleasure, 5 year-old Got Swag Litle Boy was Sooped After His First Kiss. Enjoy :-)

week seven.

This past weekend Columbus Day weekend, I spent time in Brockton, Massachusetts with my roommate and her family. Anyone who knows me knows that I love fall. Brockton is such a fall town. I loved it. All the people had their homes decorated for fall and Halloween. It was soooooo cute and quaint. So what did I do to jump into the spirit of things? I went APPLE/PUMPKIN PICKING !!!

It was soooooo much fun ! The apples were quite good. Honestly, if you really want to get in the mood for fall, go to a farm, pick a pumpkin, or take a hay ride. It is well worth the trip.

week six.

So the events of this week definitely made up for the lack thereof last week. Monday I went on a job "re-interview" kind of thing and almost cussed out the manager. Tuesday was class all day as usual, womp womp. Wednesday I watched the presidential debates. My 'hot topic" was not really answered by either of the candidates. I'll wait for the rest of the debates to see if they ever get around to the topic of education. Thursday night, I got tickets to the Jay-Z concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. When I say that I got tickets, I mean somebody just gave me tickets to a sold out Jay-Z show. The seats were nosebleeds but when we got there, the stadium staff upgraded our seats to right next to the stage, FOR FREE! Then I lost a $20 bill on the ground. But in the spirit of my good day, I found it before I left the stadium. So yeah, I'd say this week made up for last week's non-action.

week five.

Honestly, nothing big happened to me this week. I mean, I went to classes, went to the city for a bit, and came home. While I was on campus, I did happen to stop by Open Mic Night. It reminded me of this video I saw of a very powerful spoken word. So here's to an uneventful week in my senior year. Kai Davis Spoken Word: F*ck I Look Like!

week four.

Wedding Week in my world means a whole heap of ill-placed stress. I believe that if it's not my wedding, I shouldn't feel like I'm carrying a huge burden. My cousin, Whitney, is getting married in late October and my sister, Mayne, and myself have the dubious pleasure of being the Maid of Honor and a Bridesmaid, respectively. So this week's event happens to be the Bridal Shower. First thing's first, we went to the professionals at the Huffington Post. Their article Planning A Bridal Shower just gave off some basics: the theme, the games, the invites. Then we took a look at the wedding experts. The article that we found on the knot.com's website was Bridal Shower Ideas. This excerpt went into more details about what kind of games we could play, how to incorporate the groom in a bridal event, and gave a much needed checklist for everything that would be necessary for the day. Now, we've done our part. We've put together a Mardi Gras themed, game filled, funtabulous (it's so fun I had to make up a word) Bridal Shower for my cousin; the only problem is she has turned into a Bridezilla (everyone has seen the show, its a guilty pleasure). She wants bigger, better, more, more, and more. It's ridiculous the amount of opulence this girl wants. What my 21 year old mind can't seem to grasp is why is she expecting so much from people who are still in college, or fresh out. It didn't take much to hit me though; those shows, Bridezillas, My Fair Wedding with David Tutera, and any other wedding television show you can think of are poisoning her mind. The shows put on such a huge production and then have the nerve to call it a "wedding". Don't they know that having a trapeze artist perform your ceremony kind of lessens the sanctity of the nuptials? Then regular old everyday brides, i.e. Whitney, want to put on an extravagant show with the budget of an old fashioned nickelodeon. But I guess the media has that power, to make you want to spend money that you don't have on things that you probably don't want. It's all in the advertising, I guess. Now back to me, I'm a Mass Communications major and I really want to use my degree for good (insert Oprah's philanthropic smile here). I don't plan on being the kind of advertiser that makes you go broke, or nearly broke, trying to buy things that you do not need. It is my plan that every ad I create will urge people to go out in the world and be charitable. So I hope that by this time 2013, that's what I'll be doing.

week three.

This week in the land of Morgan, the most AMAZING thing happened ! I turned 21 ! I spent my week on a countdown and looking for new ways to ring in my 21st year with a bang. I ran across an article called Top 21 Things to Do on Your 21st Birthday. It gave me a few ideas. So to ring in my 21st properly, I slept in, had breakfast in bed, cut my hair to get a new look, and bought a bottle of Patron, just because I could. As for the nighttime celebration, I took in the city with my friends just to get a better picture of what 21+ nightlife looks like. Now, when I read the article, it said set a goal for the night. Their example was to get 21 kisses. I opted not to do this, however, I managed to complete that task. Some guy saw my birthday pin and decided that he just had to give me 21 kisses, there was no getting around it. So by the end of the night, he'd kissed my arm 20 times and my cheek 1.
My birthday was great, I enjoyed every minute of it. But now that I'm fully understanding my adulthood, I'm realizing that I have to a lot to do this year. I have to vote, I have to graduate with a good GPA (I will have it no other way), and I have to get a job, a real job. So I will spend my senior year making all that happen. Cheers to the future !

week two.

I'm still in shock and awe that this is my senior year. I feel like it can't be real, it can't be happening. Problem is, it's going on around me. I managed to get into the swing of things; getting my life back to business as usual, coming off the summer months. The one itty bitty fact that I have yet to cope with is that there is no more undergrad after next May. Every time this hits me, I tell myself I gotta do something. So what do I do? I jump into New York life.

First thing's first, I'm a museum-goer by nature. Being born and raised near DC, I love a day at the museum; learning things, seeing things, reading things, the usual museum activities. NY has so many museums to offer & when I was a bright-eyed freshman, I just knew I'd see them all. The harsh reality is that life got in the way. School took over, shopping took over, trips home took over, and my museums trips got delayed. Cut to senior year and I've only been to 3 NY museums (the Guggenheim, the MoMA, and the Whitney). Upon realizing this sad, sad fact, I managed to get myself to the Intrepid Museum. I loved it. The ship, the planes, the submarine, and the pièce de résistance was the Enterprise space shuttle. I had a blast learning about the Growler Submarine missions during the war. The whole experience was quite enlightening.

You're probably wondering why should you care about my trip to the museum. Well I'll tell you. If you recall me telling you in the beginning that this was my senior year of college. That means that after May, I will enter the real world. My entrance into that realm of life affects everybody that has already made it there. It means that I will join the working class and that I will be making decisions that have butterfly effects. I just wanted you to know that when I make those decisions, I will be informed and educated. Hence me telling you about my educational endeavors. You don't have to worry about me being one of those people that make it hard for everybody else. I plan on holding my own in the real world and making something of myself.

mainly Me.

the topic of my blog will be me. to be honest, i'm quite fascinated with myself. i surprise myself on the daily. the way i think, the way i handle different situations, the way i dress; i don't think there is another person out there that can come close to being who i am.
this semester, i will take you on a journey through my thoughts and thought processes. you'll pretty much get my view of my last semester as an undergrad.
